Day 25 - Oaxaca

Well I’m going to say right up front, Oaxaca is officially awesome. Proper town, proper lovely, and I’m not even going to complain that it’s proper touristy. There isn’t a spot that isn’t clean or being swept clean. Plus there’s a ton of stuff to look at and experience. All that being the case, I’ve extended my outrageous £25 per night hotel stay to 4 nights. Oh! And the hotel has the internet too, which is a very special treat. And if all that wasn’t enough, I managed to find a cuppa. The only way today could get much better is if god conspired to book Christina Hendricks into my hotel tonight and there was a terrible room mix-up sometime around ...let's say... 10pm. Alright, give the big fella some leeway, 10.15pm latest. I plan to have an early start tomorrow.
Despite all of the nice things above, I was forewarned about beggars, and sure enough, Oaxaca has plenty. I saw 3 kids spreading dog food from a can onto their flour tortillas for lunch. To be fair, I’ve eaten worse, but only by choice. Unlike them, I can at least buy my way out of trouble if I want to.

Last night I risked street food for dinner, tacos to be precise, x2, and they cost me 80p total. ...And it was of course a rash error. That said, and despite a number of violent aftershocks, careful situational awareness appears to be keeping everything largely under control.

I'll get around to talking about Oaxaca in more detail at some point, but I've been out exploring quite a bit and that's quite enough writing for now. I'm on holiday damn it!

My very cute bedroom with bed wide enough for an average Mexican couple to sleep, with a tiny bit of room to spare.

Almost tea! Floor sweepings really, but I dunked and dunked and dunked until I got something that reminded me of tea.

I finally managed to take a half decent photo. Oaxaca has a lot more to it than this, but it's a nice shot and I DO like a town decked out in primary colours.
